David Endres – University of Cincinnati (Track & Field)

Major:  Biomedical Engineering

Final list of colleges:  Cincinnati, Cornell, Michigan State, University of Vermont, UNC

Reasons for choosing Cincinnati:  “What really brought me to Cincinnati – I was originally planning to major in industrial design and they were highly ranked in that, and then I changed my major, but I just loved the campus, the coaches and the team enough where it didn’t really matter anymore.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level?  “I started track in fourth grade, so it’s always been a part of my life. I’ve always known since a young age this was a goal that I had. It really hit me indoors of my junior year when I had a big race (that I could compete in college).”

Coach Chris Pierangeli says:  “I was fortunate to coach David the last few years, and what has been most remarkable is his growth as an athlete. He’s someone who has learned a lot about himself in the last few years and has been able to maximize his talent. He’s one of the most talented runners I’ve seen. That growth mentally allowed him to embrace the moment, and last year he was able to anchor a spring 4x800m relay as well as be part of an indoor sprint medley record-breaking relay. He finished second at indoor states in the 800m recently, and I know he’s looking to have a great spring season to finish out his senior year. I’m just thankful to be able to coach him, and I’m proud of all the strides he has taken on and off the track. I can’t wait to see what he does at Cincinnati.”
