Football Forecast – Volume 7
By Scott Huff
It’s Halftime!!
The Suburban One League has completed 5 of the 10 games in the 2026 football regular season and now the strategic coaching adjustments will be made by both pretenders & contenders in attempt to capture both SOL conference championships & District One playoff berths.
Championship Week in the SOL Continental Conference?
Plymouth Whitemarsh (4-0, 1-0) & Souderton (2-3, 2-0) are the only unbeaten teams in the conference and will encounter each other under the Friday Night Lights @ Indian Field.
The Colonials are celebrating its move from the SOL American Conference * where PWHS won 5 consecutive conference titles * into a contending role for a SOL Continental Conference championship.
Plymouth Whitemarsh opened the season with impressive wins over Chester County power Coatesville (21-20) & Kennett (55-8). Plymouth Whitemarsh closed out the non-league schedule with an even more impressive 33-0 victory over Central Bucks South.
The Colonials opened its conference season with a dominating 44-8 victory over Quakertown – and now PW will have to go on the road to play Souderton for sole ownership of first place in the conference.
Souderton opened the non-league schedule with 3 losses and was really not competitive on the final scoreboard in any of the setbacks.
The Indians opened the 2026 non-league season with losses to Spring-Ford (31-14) * Pennridge (28-11) & Central Bucks West (35-14).
Souderton, however, opened the SOL Continental Conference season with a narrow 14-13 win over defending champion Council Rock South. The Indians proceeded to punish Council Rock North (63-6) to remain unbeaten in the conference.
And now Souderton will host Plymouth Whitemarsh in a game that most SOL scholastic football prognosticators believe will determine the champion of the conference.
Stay tuned.
Championship Week in the SOL American Conference?
Wissahickon (4-1) & Upper Moreland (4-1) will open the SOL American Conference regular season with the best non-league records and will encounter each other under the Friday Night Lights @ Upper Moreland Stadium.
Wissahickon captured 2 effortless victories the first 2 weeks of the season as the Trojans marched to wins over Upper Dublin (35-7) & Upper Merion (47-0). Wiss also captured competitive victories over both Chichester (14-13) & Academy Park (22-14).
The Trojans only loss of the season came in week 3 as Archbishop Carroll edged the Blue & Gold, 14-7.
Upper Moreland collected victories the first 4 weeks of the season. The Golden Bears defeated Frankford (36-6), Bensalem (20-7), Lower Moreland (40-13) & Penn Wood (21-12).
The Golden Bears only loss of the season came last week as West Chester Henderson routed the Purple & Gold, 33-6.
The remainder of the SOL American Conference all had a losing non-league record. Harry S Truman (2-3), Springfield (2-3), William Tennent (2-3) & Hatboro Horsham (1-4) were a combined 7-13 in non-league games.
Remember the Titans!
Central Bucks South is currently flying under the radar at the midpoint of the SOL National Conference season.
The Titans were winless in a brutal non-league schedule with losses to Archbishop Wood (35-17), Downingtown West (28-20) & Plymouth Whitemarsh (33-0).
However, CB South is unbeaten and tied with Pennridge for first place in the SOL National Conference with huge victories over both Abington (37-6) & Neshaminy (36-0).
The Titans (2-3, 2-0) will face district rival Central Bucks East (3-2, 1-1) in a game that has both possible conference & district playoff implications.
Both CB South & CB East currently would qualify for the 16-team D-1 playoffs if the playoffs were to begin this week. The Titans are ranked 14th, while the Patriots are ranked 8th.
Stay tuned.
