Upper Moreland coach Lisa Benvenuto:
–The game: “We knew this game would play a critical role in whether our season continued. We were well aware of Dock Mennonite’s quality and how dangerous they can be on the counterattack.
“In the first half, we controlled both possession and momentum. We played directly and intelligently, generating several dangerous opportunities. Although Dock struck first, our girls stayed focused on their goal. Within ten minutes, we found the equalizer: Eva Gorrell set up senior Brogan Neely, who finished to put us on the board. Seven minutes later, Leah King connected with Kayla Robinson on the far post, who netted her first goal of the season to take the lead. Five minutes after that, Kayla found Mia Meakim, who placed a perfect header into the back of the net. Dock converted in the 39th minute to bring the score to 3-2 heading into halftime.
“We have 12 seniors on this team—12 leaders who have been in this situation before and were determined to win. We knew Dock would come out aggressive in the second half, and the play went back and forth down the stretch. In the end, Gracie Costello came up with a clutch save with just eight seconds left to seal the victory.
–Props: “This was a complete team effort and a true team win. Every single player contributed, and we couldn’t be prouder of what our team accomplished today. Outstanding play throughout from Gracie Costello, Brooklyn Kavanagh, Mia Meakim, and Leah King.”

Pennridge 2, Springfield Delco 0
The Rams had a quick turnaround and a trip to Delco but finished their regular season on the right note.
Kenzie Metzler had a strong game offensively, assisting the team’s first half goal while scoring one of her own after halftime to help the Rams solidify their top four district playoff seed. The Cougars had plenty to play for, coming into the game battling for a final playoff spot, so the match had a postseason feel in its intensity.
Pennridge’s defense was up for it, the Rams closing their regular season with their sixth shutout of the fall with a week to rest, recover and prepare for the playoffs.
Scoring Summary
1st Half

2nd Half
P – Kenzie Metzler (Kylie Manville) 44th
Pennridge coach Lucas Kriner: “The performance tonight was really good from the girls. Second game in 24 hours was physically demanding, but they kept the energy high. Great to end the regular season on a strong note.”
Full squad effort: “Pleased with everyone’s contributions. The goals from Laina and Kenzie were great efforts from quality opportunities. Would have liked us to get a better jump on loose balls in the box, but we certainly generated a lot of chances. That’s a great takeaway for us. Springfield’s goalkeeper was outstanding on the night. Some fantastic saves, especially diving near post. Her reactions were on point when we were threatening.”
Shutout stalwarts: “Harper, Peyton, Mim, Sophie and Kenzie put in a great shift along the back line helping Bucky (Liv Buckman) secure her sixth shutout of the season.”
Up next: Pennridge – third in the District 1 4A rankings – is off until next Thursday’s second round of districts.
