New Hope-Solebury 3, William Tennent 2 (20-25, 30-28, 25-19, 23-25, 15-7)
(Submitted by William Tennent VB)
The Tennent Panthers played their absolute hearts out tonight! The crowd showed up in numbers, the energy was off the charts, even the Panther mascot made an appearance to rally the team, the fans and the vibe! Tennent gave everything they got, left it all on the court but came up just a little short to New Hope’s Lady Lions.
It was a final game for Tennent tonight as they started off as playoff hopefuls and division winners and even though it was a loss tonight, every single player gave every ounce of energy they had – the rallies were long and impressive and nobody gave up or stopped until that final whistle.
Senior outside Aubrey Lynch had a career high kill rate this game racking up 26 kills tonight along with an ace and 13 digs – her power and smart plays were too much for New Hope! Senior setter Emily Kehner had another near-career high in assists, tallying an impressive 30 assists along 8 aces and 8 digs to keep New Hope guessing. Senior outside Natalie Nabuhotny had an incredible defensive game, covering 21 digs of New Hope’s attempts and delivered 10 kills, 4 aces and a block assist to challenge the Lions with their defense.
Even though they dropped to the Lions in set five, the three seniors chose to end their high school volleyball careers with a beautiful tribute to their parents and the game: each parent set up a final ball with each senior swinging a final kill. What an emotional and wonderful night, and Coach Lockman could not be more honored to be the Tennent coach and can’t thank each player enough for all they’ve given to this team.
By the numbers: William Tennent: Aubrey Lynch (Senior, Outside) 26 kills, 1 ace, 13 digs; Natalie Nabuhotny (Senior, Outside) 10 kills, 4 aces, 1 block assist, 21 digs; Emily Kehner (Senior, Setter) 30 assists, 8 aces, 8 digs; Fiona Kreckmann (Junior Middle) 4 kills, 1 ace, 3 digs; Carissa Malpezzi (Junior, Oppo) 7 digs; Olivia Strachan (Sophomore, Middle) 3 kills, 3 digs, 1 solo block, 1 block assist; KayKay Lorenz (Sophomore, Libero) 22 digs, 6 aces.
Up next: Tennent Lady Panthers wish all teams the best on their way to playoffs – they’ll be ready to run it back next year!
