The Suburban One League is beginning the interview process for the Boys Basketball Assignor position. Tom Blackwell performed this role for many years and did an outstanding job for our league, the student-athletes, and the coaches.

SUBURBAN ONE LEAGUE
Request for Proposal
Boys Basketball Assignor
Purpose: The Suburban One League seeks parties interested and qualified to provide officiating services for the entire league.
Organization: The Suburban One League is a twenty-four member league that is an extension of the PIAA. There are four divisions – Patriot, Colonial, Liberty and Freedom with six schools in each.
Proposals: To be considered, contractors must submit a complete response to this request for proposals. A proposal must be submitted to the offices of the Basketball Chairperson, Executive Secretary and the President of the League. Contact information is listed at the end of this request.
Rejection of Proposals: The Basketball Chairperson, Executive Secretary and the President of the League reserves the right to reject any proposals, or to negotiate separately with competing contractors.
Response Date: To be considered, a proposal must arrive at the office of the Basketball Chairperson, Executive Secretary and President of the League on or before the time specified in the cover letter. It is preferred that proposals be sent via email and /or fax, which creates an immediate receipt. Contractors sending proposals through US mail should allow sufficient time for arrival.
Proposal Preparation: Proposals should be simple and economical, providing a concise description of the contractor’s ability to meet the requirements of the request for proposal.
Presentation: Contractors who submit proposals may be required to make an oral presentation that speaks to their ability to perform the duties requested and described in their proposal. If a presentation is required, you will be notified.
Contractors Responsibilities: The selected contractor will be required to assume responsibility for all services offered in the proposal.
Disclosure of Proposal Content: All proposals will be held in confidence and will not be discussed with competitors. All proposals submitted will become the property of the Suburban One League.
Scope and Nature of Agreement: The contractor must decide and present how it can best service the needs of the Suburban One League. The length of the contract will be one year, renewable every year. The agreement will include all home scheduled contests by member schools, scrimmages or championship games where applicable.
Information required from the contractor:
Below are some of the key components that the Suburban One League will look for in all proposals:
- The history and experience of the contractor, concerning officiating and assigning.
- The method of evaluation of officials by the assignor during the season and after the conclusion of the season.
- The method of recruitment of new officials and the termination of officials deemed unfit.
- The method of education of the pool of officials by the assignor prior and during the season.
- The method of evaluation of officials by coaches or athletic administrators
- Experience working with the arbiter system.
- Availability and time constraints.
- Knowledge of the current pool of officials that the Suburban One League utilizes annually.
