CR South's Martin Commits to Cheer at Kansas State

On Tuesday, June 1, 2021, Council Rock South senior Chloe Martin was recognized for committing to continue her cheerleading career at Kansas State University.

Chloe Martin – Kansas State University (Cheer)

Major: Early Childhood Education

Final list of colleges:  Kansas State, University of Mississippi, Western Kentucky

Reasons for choosing Kansas State:  “The family, the bond – they have a very big cheerleading program. They’re best in game, so that’s very exciting. I get to go to Daytona for one of the biggest college competitions – you could have seen it on the Netflix show Cheer.”

What was the progression that led you to cheering at collegiate level?  “I’ve cheered since I was five at Northampton, so it’s always been a very big part of my life, and I knew I wanted to cheer in college.

“There’s an app and you put what you do on it – videos of your flying skills. That was one of the schools that picked me.”

Coach Kelly Irvin says:  “Chloe was an integral part of our cheer squad. She is a three-year varsity flier. If you’ve ever had the privilege to watch her in the air, it’s pretty amazing. She is beautiful up in the air, she’s beautiful on the mat, she’s true beauty inside and out. We can’t wait to see everything she will accomplish at Kansas State. When I took over the team, we decided – myself and the girls - that we really wanted this to be a family, a safe place where everyone could grow and be together. Thank you, Chloe, for helping to instill that in all of our girls and our team. It’s something the rest of the team will have to live up to. Chloe, I can't wait to see everything you do, I can’t wait to see you soar in the air. I wish you nothing but the best, and I want you to remember this – you’re braver than you think, you’re stronger than you feel, and you’re loved more than you’ll ever know, and you will always have a home here at South.”
