On Monday, April 25, 2022, Pennridge senior Nate Lutz was recognized for committing to continue his water polo career at Mercyhurst University.

Nate Lutz – Mercyhurst University (Water Polo)

Major: Finance & Business

Final list of colleges:  Mercyhurst, Gannon, Washington & Jefferson, Mount St. Mary’s

Reasons for choosing Mercyhurst: “Their business program gives me a great opportunity to succeed after school. The coach and team believe in me and will help me to grow as an athlete and a person.”

Coach Jacob Grant says: “I’ve been working with Nate the past three years. He started his journey on the water polo team as a sophomore. He came in right away knowing he wanted to be the goalie. He knew that position was lacking on the boys’ team, and he saw an area he could step in and fill a void. He was an incredible goalie his first year as a member of our jayvee team. He continued to get better and improve for his junior year, and he was ready to take over that position on varsity as a junior. Nate came in and was really the backbone to the defensive line of the Pennridge boys’ team as a junior and senior. He was always working with his teammates to make them better and to better the team. Nate was always looking out for the team. He was a true team player. Nate is going to Mercyhurst, a Division 2 school out in Erie to play for a very historical water polo program. Mercyhurst has been around for years. They’re a great team, and I know he’s going to be a great addition to that program. I’m super excited to watch Nate continue to develop as an athlete over the next four years and really excel for Mercyhurst.”
