Central Bucks West Baseball Preview

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST BASEBALL PREVIEW

Coach:  Brian Weaver (5th season)

Assistant coaches: Bill Evans, Matt McCarthy

Last year’s record:  11-9 overall, 9-7 SOL Colonial. District playoff qualifier

Notable losses: Aidan Quinn (3B/Lehigh), Cole Fehrman (P/West Virginia), Damian Thomas (OF), Jackson Cunnane (1B/Juniata), Connor Dobos (P)

Key returners: Max McGlone (Sr., C), Matt Carr (Sr., OF), Kevin Bukowski (Sr., SS), Quinn Illig (Jr., IF), Julio Ermigiotti (Sr., P/IF), Sam Greer (Jr., P/IF)

Others to watch: Alex Valdes (So., OF/P), Luke Birkhead (Sr., P/IF), Michael Koldhoff (So., IF/P)

Strengths/Question Marks:  “On the hill, the Bucks return a strong starting combo in Ermigiotti and Greer. They’ll have big shoes to fill, as Fehrman and Dobos created the strongest starting rotation in recent memory at West. In Max McGlone, they’ll be throwing to one of the best defensive catchers in the state, and the Bucks return a strong middle infield pairing of Bukowski and Illig.

Outlook: “After making the district playoffs last year for the first time in a decade, this year’s squad will rely on a key core of veterans to guide newcomers at several positions. A bullpen of almost entirely new faces will play a big role in any success, and new players at the corners will have to find a way to carry the torch for Quinn and Cunnane.”
