SPRINGFIELD MONTCO 2, PENNSBURY 1

Springfield certainly made the most of their penalty corner opportunities as both of their goals were scored that way. Pennsbury came out a bit slowly in the first half, allowing Springfield to dominate and beat them to the ball holding onto a 1-0 lead for the entire first thirty minutes. Following halftime, the Falcons perked up a bit and tied the game 1-1 on a great quick free hit from midfield by Sophia Hitchingham into the circle and deflection from right wing, Kayli Williams. Hitchingham played it smart and took the hit very quickly and Kayli was in the perfect place inside the circle to touch it into the goal. Williams’ spark lasted a long time as Pennsbury began to dominate the offense for another ten minutes, but couldn’t capitalize. At the 13 minute mark, Springfield scored off of a corner to make it 2-1 and that is where the score remained. The Falcons had opportunities, but are still struggling with creating an abundance of offensive chances and finishing fully. They were also punched in the gut with a deserved yellow card that put them a player down for the final five minutes of play. The defensive unit for Pennsbury played an outstanding game. Senior captain, Casey Glynn, once again came through strongly in the middle with big hits and stops. Hannah Aker guided the ball and distributed out of the circle incredibly well and Sammie Tosh stepped up with multiple interceptions giving an offensive push out of the back field. Nicole Joniak was another extremely strong force notching a beautiful defensive save. Goalie, Keira Korzeb, had many great saves and handled the pressure situations with her defense very well. Despite an 0-3 start, the Falcons continue to grow and progress and take away new lessons from every game. Each day is an opportunity to start anew and as they build their program from the inside out, Pennsbury will continue to write their story with heart, grit, and a love for the game.
