The girls showed up with a strong performance in the home/season opener. There were definitely some nerves to start the match, but we've talked a lot this year about holding ourselves to a standard and we felt that in the first five minutes we started to raise our level and control the game a bit more. At times, we were in complete control, and we did a great job of communicating and controlling the ball. We were a little eager to push the ball forward in a hurry, which hurt us at times on a hot day, but overall a really solid performance to start the season.

Freshman Sienna Stunkard fought hard to earn a well-deserved goal about halfway through the first. The assist came from senior captain Maggie Fisher who stepped up with a solid clearance from midfield that she dropped just behind Carroll's backline. Sienna fought hard against the last defender to sneak in and poke home a nice finish.

In the second half, we continued to work on establishing control in the match and found a second goal with senior captain. Alexis Stefanowicz poking home a really calm finish on the end of a nice set-piece ball from junior Nicole Schulingkamp. Nicole had a really strong match, covering a lot of ground and controlling the midfield, and she was a little unlucky to not get a goal herself, hitting the post with a strong effort in the second half.

Front to back I thought we had a really strong performance. Junior Liv Beresovoy was really strong in communication and was constantly posing a threat to Carroll. Freshman Ashlee Rose had a really strong performance as well and was probably a bit unlucky as well to not get a goal or assist.
