Bensalem vs. Council Rock South

Bensalem Comments
Council Rocks, Kaylie Walters lead off the game with a walk, stole second and two bunts later scored. The second innings saw the first two batters reached on an error and another walk and scored on Jordan Bobrin’s triple bringing South to a 3-0 lead.

A lot of our girls had nervous energy, they were playing their old coach and I don’t think they were using that energy properly. We had a solid 3rd inning with runners on 2nd & 3rd Left Fielder Kayla Clarkson made a laying out over the shoulder catch and secured the ball when hitting the ground for the 3rd out.

We pulled the girls together and told them to build on that momentum and they delivered Camryn Pickering and Ayva Knowles led off with back to back walks and Meg Klein loaded the bases with a single. Maggie Formichelli stepped up and ripped a 2 RBI single. Lina Sponheimer smoked a ball to short and South attempted to get Klein who forced a run down and scored. Adrianna Vargas followed it up with an RBI to take the 4-3 lead. The Owls tacked on 2 more runs in the 4th when Pickering smoked a triple and scored on a Knowles Sac Fly. Meg Klein beat out an infield single and scored on a triple by Kayla Clarkson to bring the score to 6-3.

Council Rocks Avery Tumolo smacked a home run to cut the lead to 6-4. The last inning wasn’t without drama as most of Bensalems games have been this season, leadoff batter Kaylie Walters had an infield single the owls were able to get 2 quick outs but Grace Stepp scored Walters putting the winning run on 1st, the game ended when the courtesy runner was called out attempting to swipe 2nd.

South’s team is extremely young but talented they are going to be a tough scrappy team. As for the Owls the games might not always be pretty but they keep finding a way to get it done every game someone new is stepping up.
