Neshaminy is every bit as solid and deep a team as they are touted to be. Their pitcher Amanda Slabicki threw a beautiful game today to hold our hitters at bay with nice spin and painting corners. She was absolutely on her game and kept us from really being able to ever get a rally going offensively. We knew their 3 and 4 hitters have dangerous power, but I was also very impressed with the power that was displayed today by Carina Barr who is more known as a small ball player with lots of speed. She drove 2 extra base hits (both slapping and swinging) which adds another dimension of danger for teams having to contend with Neshaminy's offense. I've seen her working very hard at the NAC this off season trying to improve her power, and obviously, to our detriment, that hard work paid off for her.

Despite the final score, overall I was very proud of our girls today. Neshaminy is one of the best teams in the state, and our girls played a good hard clean game against them. Kali Anderson did an awesome job keeping their hitters off balance for 6 innings, and to have a 1 to 0 lead through 3 innings, and then go into the final frame with a 4 to 1 score against a team like Neshaminy shows the improvement our girls are making. Unfortunately for us, Neshaminy's offense got their timing down and erupted in the top of the 7th, but for possibly the first time all year, we went from inning 1 through inning 7 with every run given up being earned, and that is a huge step in the right direction for us as we look to continue making improvements game by game.
