North Penn built a two-goal first-half advantage and withstood a determined Pennridge comeback to earn a 4-2 victory over the Rams in Perkasie.
The Knights wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, converting a penalty corner opportunity just 1:34 into the contest. Devin Crowley finished a setup from Avery Hanrahan to give North Penn an early 1-0 lead. The visitors doubled their advantage later in the quarter when Izzy Hong converted another penalty corner opportunity off an assist from Cecilia Lewis, sending the Knights into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Pennridge responded with energy coming out of the break. Less than two minutes into the third quarter, Deegan Smith produced a highlight-reel effort, taking a self-start free hit, weaving through four North Penn defenders, and finishing unassisted to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Rams continued to apply pressure and eventually found the equalizer on a penalty corner. After the initial shot opportunity was missed, Naomi Nulty stayed with the play and found Dylan Smith alone in front of the cage. Smith buried the chance into the backboard to tie the game at 2-2 and cap off Pennridge’s comeback.
With the game even entering the fourth quarter, North Penn regained the lead through its transition attack. At the 10:32 mark, Cara Albano finished an unassisted rush up the field to put the Knights back in front. North Penn added an insurance goal later in the quarter when Hailey Barwis converted a feed from Albano, extending the lead to 4-2 and securing the road victory.
Despite the loss, Pennridge generated quality chances throughout the contest and held a 7-4 advantage in attacking penalty corners. Goalkeeper Ella Ricci recorded four saves, while Lily Roller added a defensive save to help keep the Rams within striking distance. North Penn goalkeeper Elizabeth McClarren stopped three of the five shots she faced to earn the win.
“We showed a lot of character battling back from two goals down and finding a way to tie the game,” said head coach Chris Chookagian. “Deegan’s goal gave us a spark, and our corner unit executed well to get us back even. North Penn capitalized on a couple key opportunities in the fourth quarter, and that proved to be the difference. There were plenty of positives in the way we competed and responded throughout the night.”

Quakertown Field Hockey Honors Teachers and Mentors in Dominant Team Victory
(Submitted by Quakertown FH)
It was a special night in Quakertown as our Panther field hockey program took time to celebrate the educators and mentors who shape our lives off the field. Before game time, each varsity player invited and recognized a teacher or mentor who has made a lasting impact on their journey. We were playing for far more than just a scoreboard, we were playing for our mentors, our school, and a community that never fails to show up in support. The energy was contagious from the opening whistle. We came out firing, establishing momentum just five minutes into the game when Sunny Draper buried a stunning reverse rip to put us on the board. Cassidy Landis kept the pressure on in the second quarter, extending the lead with a beautiful strike from the top of the circle.
Sunny and Penny were locked in all evening, displaying elite chemistry on the attack. Sunny added two more goals to her tally, both set up by precise assists from Penny, while Cassidy found the back of the cage once more off an assist from Sunny.
We are so thankful for all of our teachers and mentors in attendance and cannot thank them enough for their unwavering support. Special appreciation also goes out to our game day sponsors tonight The Trolley Barn and Schnecksville Notary. Also, A very special thank you to Orthodontic Specialists, who generously sponsored our playoff shirts featuring this season’s motto: “Built for This, The STANDARD.”
The momentum doesn’t stop here. Tomorrow night promises to be another memorable event as we celebrate our seniors in grand fashion at Alumni Stadium in Quakertown, this TEAM is special.
