In a battle of division leaders, Abington and Springfield were scoreless for the first 75 minutes, before the Galloping Ghosts broke through and put away an impressive 2-0 win on the road Monday afternoon.

“The first goal came with five minutes left in the game as it was a hard fought (scoreless) tie until we finally 
broke the deadlock with about five minutes to play. The goal came from a long throw-in from senior Carter Shannon and was headed home by Zak Yurchshyn for his seventh goal of the season.
“The most dangerous player of the day for us was certainly Carter Shannon as he delivered more than 10 long throws into the box that created goal scoring chances for us. Zak finally finished one.
“We also received stellar play from our goalkeeper, junior Dom Veitz. Dom came up with multiple big saves on the day to help preserve the clean sheet and punted the ball nearly the length of the field with about two minutes to play that resulted in our second goal of the game from a defensive mistake from Springfield.
“It was a huge win for the Ghosts, who moved to (7-0-3) against the previously undefeated Spartans. We are looking forward to our huge home game against Council Rock North on Wednesday.”

William Tennent started fast and finished it in the second half, as four different players scored goals in a 4-2 win over visiting Plymouth Whitemarsh.

Tennent coach Nick D’Andrea:
“We scored about 3 minutes into the game. Brayden Hahn scored on a through ball by Leon Lembersky. Then, 20 minutes in, Danny Falendysh scored a nice goal coming across the top of the box.
“PW settled in as we expected as they are well-coached by Toni Washington and found the net just before half making it 2-1.
“The game was a battle in the second half. Both teams had chances. Nick Lepouski scored a nice goal for us to make it 3-1 off a nice sequence of passing. Then Ryder Holt scored making it 4-1 before their (Kevin DiMarco) scored a brilliant goal to make it 4-2.
“Good win against a tough SOL opponent.”
PW coach Toni Washington:
“Disappointing result for us after coming off a big win last Friday. We came out flat, no intensity and got scored on early to set the tone. We have a lot of potential and talent but lacked heart and physicality today and that’s why we lost. We simply got out worked. Shout out to Tennent for doing their job and defending their home turf.”

Upper Dublin 3, Lower Moreland 1
Tyler McLaughlin and Ryan Bond each had one goal and one assist, as Upper Dublin went on the road and won its second consecutive game 3-1 over Lower Moreland in a crossover on Monday afternoon.

“Good game today from the boys collectively, as a group. I know it doesn’t show up on the stat line, but huge game from our keeper, Evan Hillman. Without his leadership and big saves, that game goes a different way.”

Coming off a huge tie against powerhouse Abington and riding a seven game unbeaten streak, Wissahickon took care of business with three goals late in the first half and then another in the second for the 4-0 win over Cheltenham.

Wissahickon coach Stuart Malcolm:
“We managed to overcome a stubborn Cheltenham defense late in the first half to take a 3-0 lead into half time. Goals by Elijah Calpas, Nolan Reilly and Brayden Vorchheimer managed to put us in control at half time.
“We played well in the second half but could only manage to add a single additional goal through senior midfielder Luke Frankenfield.
“We managed to not slip up after a solid run of results recently.”

Neshaminy 4, Central Bucks East 0
Four second-half goals broke open a scoreless game, as Neshaminy picked up a huge win in a cross over game at CB East on Monday afternoon.
Monty Jawawdeh had two goals and one assist for Neshaminy.
“We finally broke the dam, scoring goals, which was nice,” Neshaminy coach Tom Foley said. “And hopefully we can keep it going against Upper Dublin Wednesday.”

Neshaminy coach Tom Foley:
–The game: “We started to find our stride a bit in the second half. We were getting some more opportunities. The first half was your typical Monday game. We didn’t really have our wits about us, and even playing as poorly as we did, I thought we had two of the best chances in the first half.
“They had one scary corner that kind of floated wide, but other than that, they didn’t really threaten our goal too much in the first half, so it was kind of a draw in the first half, but in the second half, we found our footing.
“We started getting the ball moving around a little bit, and then Zach (Hargraves) got us on the board. Dylan Cloud punted it from the goal mouth, and Monty (Jawawdeh) flicked it on and hit Zach in stride. It was a race to the ball, and Zach beat him and tucked it in really nicely.
“The second goal from Brody Collins was probably our nicest goal of the year. Our back hit a diagonal ball to David Lopez, and he pulled it back to the top of the 18 where Brody was coming in and hit him in stride. Brody just met it, and he didn’t try to kill it, like we’re trying to preach to them. And he hit a seed to the left side of the goal, and the goalie just kind of watched it go by – an excellent goal.
“Then we just worked and got a couple more goals at the end, which was great.”
–Props: “I thought David (Lopez) played very well. He had two of the best assists of the season so far. Our back line with Nick Indellicato, Jake Fallon, Dean Goodwin, and Connor Choi came in late, and Julian Shaw played really well in the back as well. They shut them down. We didn’t really give them any opportunities today. I think their best opportunity was a miscommunication near our keeper and our center back, and that’s the only shot they really shot wide, so overall, we were very, very pleased.”

Council Rock North 4, Central Bucks South 1
Two goals in the first 25 minutes set the tone in this one as Council Rock North handled CB South by a 4-1 final score on Monday night.

Council Rock North assistant coach Brian Hoffman:
–The game: “I don’t think it was our best game, but we definitely pushed the pace and put them under pressure frequently, which obviously resulted in opportunities for us.”
–Props: “Chase Murphy and Will Louden had outstanding games and really quelled two of their more dangerous players. They had two players that are really, really good, and we pretty much kept the lid on them both through the whole game.
“David Morais did a phenomenal job of dispossessing their offense and transitioning well into offense for us. He was a linchpin in the sense that whenever the ball came to him, he was able to really defend well and then immediately start the attack from midfield.”
CB South coach Ed Brnardic:
–The game: “Tonight was really a game of moments. CR North played a very good game, and there were a few moments when they were able to cut through us and create some really nice goals. We had our moments as well, putting together some good combinations and creating quality chances. We just weren’t able to do it as consistently as we would have liked. In the end, we lost to a better team tonight.
“That said, I was especially proud of our guys and the way they approached the second half after going into halftime down 2-0. Our focus at halftime was simple: don’t let CR North extend the lead, keep battling, and continue looking for opportunities to create chances.
“That approach paid off when we scored to make it 2-1 with 24 minutes remaining. At that point, there was a real sense of belief that we could find the equalizer. Unfortunately, we just couldn’t come up with the final touch we needed.
“With about seven minutes left, we had to take some chances. We pushed additional players forward in search of the tying goal, which naturally left us more exposed in the back. CR North took advantage and scored twice in the final five minutes.
–Props: “I have to give props to our best player on the night, Leo Propato. CR North has a very dangerous attack, but Leo read the game exceptionally well and seemed to constantly put himself in the right spots to break up passes before they could become dangerous. His soccer IQ was off the charts, and when you combine that with his technical ability, he really stood out for us from start to finish.”
Next up: CR North (5-1-3) has a huge crossover game at Abington on Wednesday night. CB South (5-2-4) looks to bounce back at Springfield Twp on Wednesday.

Souderton 3, Council Rock South 1
Three different players scored goals and Souderton had a big game under the lights on Monday, knocking off Council Rock South 3-1 in an impressive crossover victory.
“I thought we played a good game,” said Souderton coach Frank Demas. “Especially the first half, we looked really sharp. We needed to really bounce back and show what we are capable of, and we definitely did that tonight. So many guys we could call out for playing well tonight. But ultimately, it came down to every guy doing their job and staying committed to the gameplan, which we did tonight.”

Souderton coach Frank Demas:
“It was community night for Souderton. We had an awesome turnout from the community, with a lot of youth players coming out to cheer on the team.”
–The goals: The first goal came off a great shot from Pisoni about 20 minutes into the game, assisted by Muller, who had a strong game and did a lot of dirty work for the team tonight. AJ has been playing well and the shot was great. Right off his foot we all knew it was going in.
“Second goal came from Zyad getting another assist, to Freddy who had a great finish.
“Second half was back and forth. A little more chaos, with not much happening. Trevor (Alderfer) came up with a great save to keep it 2-1.
“With 10 minutes left, Marlon Galvon singlehandedly won a bouncing ball and beat two defenders to then slide a ball over to Cole Manners to finish.
“Again, we could call out so many guys for Souderton tonight. We are happy with the all-around performance against a strong team.”
Next up: Souderton (6-3-1) plays at Cheltenham on Wednesday afternoon. CR South (4-5-1) looks to bounce back at home against Wissahickon.

Pennsbury 1, North Penn 1
Each team scored in the first half, but in the end settled for 1-1 in this Patriot-Colonial crossover at North Penn on Monday.

North Penn coach Maurice Haye:
– “Pennsbury struck first, scoring on a shot from outside the 18-yard box to take an early lead. North Penn continued to apply pressure throughout the match, consistently attacking and putting pressure on Pennsbury’s back line.
“That pressure eventually paid off when Logan Bocklet found the back of the net off a great assist from Rylan Weed, leveling the match at 1-1.”
– Props: “North Penn’s defense played a major role in securing the draw. Caleb Kalitsi, Noah Imbrogno, Leo Biase, Ethan Jones, and Karam Alkoudki all turned in strong performances, helping limit Pennsbury’s opportunities and keeping North Penn in the game.
“Off the bench, Brody Green, Ange Daniel, and Sean Austin provided a great spark and helped maintain North Penn’s energy and pressure throughout the match.
“It was an entertaining game for the fans, with both teams competing hard and creating an exciting atmosphere. Pennsbury is an excellent, well-coached team, and North Penn looks forward to the opportunity to compete against them again in the future.”
Pennsbury coach Tom Stoddart:
“Awadalla with free kick in 15th minute. Unfortunately, we conceded a counterattack in the same minute.
“We played very well, just did not convert opportunities. Tough atmosphere. We kept our composure and secured a tie.”

Upper Moreland 1, Quakertown 1
On Senior Night, honoring nine seniors, Upper Moreland earned a 1-1 tie with visiting Quakertown in a crossover game on Monday.

All the scoring was done in the second half, and both teams had to battle back from deficits at times in that half, but when it was done, CB West and visiting Bensalem earned a 2-2 tie at War Memorial Field on Monday night.

CB West coach John Adair:
“I was really proud of the way our boys fought back from a difficult moment. We’ve already had a handful of referee mistakes lead directly to goals conceded that have changed the outcome of a number of games this year, so it would’ve been easy for our guys to put their head down and make excuses after going behind 2-1 on a goal that was offside, but they didn’t. They found an equalizer and probably created enough chances to still win the game.
“We weren’t at our best going forward today, but I thought we saw the best of Paolo Leiva. He’s a real difference-maker with the ball when he’s playing decisively, and tonight was a great example with a goal and an assist.
–Props: “A lot of guys put in a shift tonight. Jan Lachacz has deserved a mention in every game we’ve played. He does so much selfless work against the ball in helping us regain possession and making us more difficult to play through.
“Zurab is also coming into his own. It was really only a matter of time before things started to click for him, but with two really big goals in three games for us, it’s come at a really important time.”
Bensalem coach Kevin Bock:
“The first half was played to a scoreless tie. While no goals were scored, both teams had opportunities, and it felt like only a matter of time until the game opened up.
“The game definitely opened up in the second half as it was very back and forth. CB West struck first, but we got one back several minutes later when Declan Corbett slotted a ball into Chase Esposito who was able to find a little bit of space and score.
“We had been coming close to scoring on several corners and finally got one in when Danny Kalita swung a ball into the box on a corner and Mamadou Diallo was able to score amongst the chaos in front of goal. CB West responded almost immediately, as they scored the equalizer in about 40 seconds.
“The last 10 minutes were exciting, but neither team could capitalize.
“This was a good test for our boys as it was a challenging away game, in the rain, against a quality opponent. While we didn’t get the win, it was a hardfought tie.”
